Most properties in Glasgow and Renfrewshire can benefit from a heat pump, but suitability depends on insulation levels, available outdoor space, and your current heating setup. Air source heat pumps require around 2-3m² of external space. We carry out a full property survey before recommending any heat pump installation.
Heat pumps are significantly cheaper to run than gas or oil boilers. A well-installed air source heat pump can produce 3-4 units of heat for every unit of electricity used (COP of 3-4). Running costs depend on your electricity tariff and usage, but most households see significant savings, especially with a heat pump-specific electricity tariff.
Modern heat pumps are very quiet - typically around 40-50dB, similar to a refrigerator. They are installed at least 1 metre from boundaries and positioned to minimise any noise impact on neighbours. We assess the best siting during the survey.
The Home Energy Scotland (HES) scheme offers grants of up to £7,500 and interest-free loans for heat pump installations in eligible properties. The Scottish Government's Heat Pump Fund also covers up to 75% of costs in some cases. We can advise on eligibility during your initial survey - contact us to find out more.
